Cyber Security Finishing School (CSFS)

According to the Future of Jobs Report 2023 by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Cyber Security is expected to be one of the biggest drivers of job growth over the next five years, with over 75 per cent of surveyed organizations indicating it to be a technology adoption stream over this period. ISC2’s 2023 Workforce Study of over 14,000 Cyber Security professionals indicated over 92 per cent of them reporting skills gaps in Cyber Security in their organizations. This Report also mentioned that in 2023, there was a shortage of 4 million Cyber Security professionals worldwide. Fortinet’s 2023 Cyber Security Skill’s Gap Global Research Report mentions the top five Cyber Security skills required in industry to be: Cloud Security, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Malware Analysis, Secure System Operations, and Foundations of Cyber Security.

To bridge the vast gap of talent required in Cyber Security in the state of Karnataka, CySecK has come up a first-of-its-kind idea of a Cyber Security Finishing School (CSFS) with the following features:

  1. The CSFS is a full-time residential specialized training programme aimed at improving the Cyber Security skills and employability of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) graduates who are about to enter the job market.
  2. The CSFS is structured as a five-week long training programme covering 40 hours of training per week on each of the above-mentioned sub-domains of Cyber Security, giving a total of 200 hours of training spread over the five weeks.
  3. Only full-time final-year B.E./B.Tech. students enrolled and studying in a college in Karnataka who are interested in pursuing a career in Cyber Security are eligible to apply for the CSFS with no restrictions on their branch of study.
  4. The cohort size for each cohort of the CSFS will be limited to 50 participants.

The inaugural cohort of CySecK’s Cyber Security Finishing School will be held between 19th February and 23rd March 2024 at the Alva’Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET), Moodubidire, which is the hosting partner, with Trisakha Foundation, Chennai, as the knowledge partner.
