CySecK – as part of Samgacchadhwam series of webinars – is conducting a free webinar for students / faculty / working professionals on the topic “Cybersecurity for Power and Energy Infrastructure”. This webinar will be conducted by Prof. Abhijit Kshirsagar, IIT Dharwad.
Date : 1st July 2020
Time : 5:00 to 6:30 pm
Brief introduction of the topic:
The electrical power infrastructure – the Electric Grid – is an extremely large cyber-physical system of national importance. Unlike other cyber-physical systems, the sheer size and geographic scale of this system, reliability concerns, and it’s status as a public utility pose some unique challenges in system security. While the system contains a lot of legacy equipment, recent trends in renewable energy deployment, electric vehicle uptake and evolution of electric loads (microgrids) pose cyber-security challenges that are yet to be understood. This talk will introduce the structure of the grid as a cyber-physical system, existing cyber-physical security models, threats and solutions, and describe the specific challenges and opportunities expected to emerge as the grid evolves, with a few case-studies and real-world examples.
Pre-requisites for participation:
A basic understanding of the power-grid and its operation and knowledge of basic computer communication systems would be highly desirable.
Note: Those who clears assessment will be provided a certificate of achievement & who could not take the assessment will be provided a certificate of participation.
